Meet our little Nellie. She has a sad story to share with you. Nellie had a family who she loved dearly. They didn't feel the same about her, despite having her for her whole life. One day, they dropped her off at the vet office to "board" her for a few days. They never came back to get her. After 2 weeks of trying to get in touch with them, and the owners saying they would come get her and not showing up, the vet clinic needed their boarding space so they had to call the shelter and turn her over to them. The kind hearted shelter director contacted me, not wanting to traumatize this little one by taking her to a noisy shelter. Thankfully, a friend of mine offered to foster Nellie and she's had her since the end of October. Nellie loves her foster home and the foster family loves her dearly, and they have done such a fantastic job with her. Nellie loves the children in the home - even the toddler who is 3 years old. She is good with the other pets in the home as well. Nellie is only about 4lbs. The vet clinic said she was 10+ years old, but we think she is around 12-13 years. Her teeth were in the worst condition I've ever seen, but we had them cleaned and she lost most of them. So she needs to be on a soft diet. She enjoys her soft food very much and has actually gained a pound since going to her foster home. She was only 3 lbs when we got her and was very thin. Her weight now is good. We believe Nellie is a Yorkie crossed with Chinese crested. She is a sweet little girl and we are seeking a home where she will continue to be spoiled just as she has been in her foster home. I don't believe she has ever had that in her life until now, and I want to be sure that no matter how long she has left, it is spent in comfort and unconditional love. She deserves it after being abandoned like she was. I am just thankful that we had a foster step up for her, one that would love her and dote on her and make sure that all of her needs are met. Nellie is a very special little baby and has a lot of life left. She is very affectionate and loves to get a warm bath, and loves to be blow dried. :) Pretty much, anything warm is ok with her! She snuggles in the bed at night with her foster mom. If you have a loving home to offer her where she can continue to be spoiled and loved unconditionally, we would love to hear from you! Nellie is located in Arkansas and can be transported to the northeast once adopted.
