WANTED - BEST FRIEND FOREVER !!!  This is MICAH's dream...I can't write enough good things about him, so please forgive me for this lengthy write up!!

MICAH is 2 years old, and is a Border Collie / Black Labrador mix and weighs 45 lbs.  His coat and his body looks more like a lab, but his actions are truly those of a Border Collie!

MICAH has been trained by someone.  He had apparently been a working dog at one time; maybe he was working cattle, sheep, we just don't know.

MICAH protects my house, and my yard, from other dogs - and people. This is just Border Collies' instinct, they can not help it !!  They have their 'pack', their territory, and nobody else is supposed to trespass.

MICAH will bark at people walking down the road - his only fault is that he will jump the fence and bend down in that "I'm gonna jump on you" position, which is his way to 'challenge' people, but all a person has to do is ignore him or run at him, and he runs away, ha.  HE DOES NOT BITE!

MICAH would do best in the country where someone actually wants him to protect them and their property.  Someone who does not want other people hanging around...OR someone who can give him a job!  Like herding - he is a true Border Collie, and loves to herd.  I have had maybe 4 litters of puppies since MICAH has been here, and he has to go in the yard, herd them, make sure they are OK, then he comes back in the house :)

I have had MICAH in foster for 6 months now, and he is one of the best dogs I've ever fostered.  He knows, and obeys, the commands 'sit', 'lie down', 'shake', 'out', 'off', "give me 5" and "give me ten" LOL and other commands that I am just unaware of as I am not a trainer :)

MICAH LOVES to ride in the car, he wants to go with me every time I leave.  I take him riding up the road, to the store and back, and he is just SO happy when he is riding :)

We discovered that Micah can jump a 4 ft. chain link fence like it's not even there, and he can also get over an 8 foot wooden fence!  He doesn't run off, he is just a free spirited guy, and wants to be outside of the fence sometimes :)  OH - he will chew your bras (if you have any) if you dare leave them within his reach.  Some dogs have foot fetishes...he likes bras LOL.

MICAH has the most beautiful sweet toothy smile :)  He has these vampire teeth ha - when I go to pet him, his teeth always get in the way ha. Some adults and children have accused him of 'charging at them' and 'biting' them, he just wants to play, be petted, and his big vampire teeth get in the way !!

MICAH is happiest when he is the 'only dog' sitting beside his person - this is just heaven to him - to have someone to pet him, talk to him, just love him.  He LOVES to go on walks!  He would be a great partner if you are a walker, or need to be :)

MICAH's story is pretty sad, but so common down here.  He was found caught in a snare trap in a wooded area of someone's back yard.  These people did not even know there was a snare trap back there !!  They saw him in it, and called animal control who got him out of the snare.  Thank goodness he was not injured at all, but he was terrified for quite a while after this ordeal.  After that, he was locked up in a kennel at the shelter, and he was so confused :(

MICAH LOVES his crate !  He is housetrained, if you keep him on a schedule, and he always lets you know when he needs to go outside :)

He spent the first month of nights here in his crate, and if he stays the night inside the house, when he is confined to one area, he does not pee/poo inside.  He has had a couple of accidents, but those were my fault by not letting him out when he asked.

He does circles and dances towards the door to go outside with that happy sweet smile on his face.

Micah LOVES to play fetch - AND - he brings the ball back to you !!  He would be great with kids, or an adult who needs to get out and have some fun :)

MICAH has been neutered, dewormed, and is on monthly Advocate flea, and heartworm preventative, is current on yearly shots and his Rabies vaccination.  He is also heartworm negative!!  He will also have a thorough vet exam and receive a health certificate to cross state lines if needed.

If you are interested in adopting sweet MICAH, please email krun11@sbcglobal.net for more information!

His adoption donation is $275 which helps pay the vet for all of the care he has received.

We will send you an application to fill it out and return to us :)

Applications are processed in the order they are received, so get your app in ASAP!!

Thank you so much for wanting to help a rescued dog !!!
