PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

3/27/14 Kane was brought into the shelter as a stray and because he was terrified in the shelter, and not outgoing when people came by his cage, he was going to be euthanized. Adopt A Stray Rescue volunteers saw something special in him and he was given a reprieve but it is not for long. When the shelter is full, he will be put to sleep. Kane is considered very urgent. He tested positive for heartworms and will be treated for them if he has a confirmed adopter. Kane is submissive and sweet natured. He is just not doing well in the shelter environment - he is scared, poor baby. When he is out of the cage and around other dogs, he does well. He was also calm when tested with cats and did not show any aggression. He just needs a chance with a family to become the dog he was meant to be. He will be worth the effort to save him. AASR is a foster based rescue and sadly we do not have an available foster so we can not pull him from the shelter unless he has an adopter. :( We are hopeful that his forever family will see him and apply to adopt him, before it is too late. Kane is NOT located in the northeast - he is listed in many different states to increase his chance of being adopted. Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
