10/30/12 Marie belonged to a "back yard breeder" who went out of business. She sold this sweet girl to an individual and that person was not able to keep her due to a change in her work schedule. Despite being a "breeder", Marie is an outgoing, friendly, loving little lady! She is not completely housetrained yet, but she is working on it and really getting the hang of it. She has lived outdoors until coming here to live with me, so it has been quite an adjustment for her, but she is taking it all in stride! Marie's companion, Gabby, who was also an EBD, did not survive being spayed, due to the numerous litters of puppies she produced in her time as a breeder. Her uterus was in such poor condition, the vet could not properly ligate, and sadly Gabby lost too much blood and passed away the night of her surgery, here in my home. Marie and Gabby were best buds and got along very well, but Gabby was the submissive one. Marie is a bit bossy with other dogs. I have a Pit Bull, Great Dane, and English Mastiff, along with several medium size mixed breeds, and they all submit to Mss Marie. She does not go looking for a fight - she is much too lazy for that - lol! But she is possessive of things and people. Her favorite thing in the entire world is sleeping on the sofa. If one of the other dogs comes too close to the sofa, Marie growls at them and has snapped a few times too. She wants all the poeple to sit on the sofa with her and cuddle, and has no problem sharing it with them. She is a mess! She is much the same way when we give out treats - she tries to bully the other dogs out of their share, and is usually successful. For this reason, I would recommend Marie go to home where she can be the only dog, or with one other submissive dog that won't mind her bossy-ness. Marie was very over weight when she came here, but she has lost some weight and is now about 45lbs. Still could stand to lose a few pounds, but that is a challenge when you are built like she is! She isn't a big fan of activity and really wants to just be a couch potato. She is about 6 years old. We do have her AKC registration papers. Marie is spayed, heartworm negative, current on vaccinations, and other routine vet care. Marie is located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted.
