About Cosette

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog

9/10/12 Cosette was rescued from a high kill shelter in Arkansas, where she had been picked up as a stray and never reclaimed. Cosette is my favorite foster dog ever! She is a sensitive little girl but bonds very quickly to her person. She immediately took to my 16yr old daughter and is stuck to her like glue. Cosette does well with other dogs that are close to her size, and also does fine with larger dogs as long as they are calm. She is good with my elderly lab, but is very intimidated by my 2 year old boxer. Cosette is clearly an Italian Greyhound mix. We do not know what she is mixed with, but she has a bobbed tail - not sure if it was that way naturally or if someone had it cut. Cosette is quiet and loves nothing more than to sit in a lap and cuddle - she lives for cuddle time! Once she gets comfortable, she also likes to play, but is very gentle with her play time habits. Cosette would do best in a home with a fenced yard, as she is not accustomed to walking and pottying on the leash, but with the right adopter she could learn. She is very smart. Cosette appears to have been trained to use puppy pads and will go on them, even while in her crate. She is good in her crate and likes to cuddle in her little bed. She is just an all around wonderful little dog and if I didn't have a dog that scares her, I would keep her myself. She appears to be about 1 1/2 years old weighs about 10 lbs. I will have her spayed before she goes to her new home. She is current on vaccinations. Cosette will remain here in Arkansas until adopted, at which time she will be transported to the northeast. Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
