PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
Earl is a male Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler/hound mix pup, abandoned on a 100-degree day with 8 siblings on a remote country highway. We estimate his birth date at June 20, 2010. He is about 23 inches at the shoulder, weighed approx. 50 lb. as of mid-January and will likely be a 60+ lb. dog when fully-matured. It was recently discovered that Earl is deaf, something not unheard of in cattle dogs. He is being trained to hand signs and already knows the signs for “no”, “stay” and “back”. He is quite intelligent and very food-motivated. Given time and patience, he will make a great companion. This boy has a sweet temperament and loves being indoors with his humans. He is a bit reserved. We attribute that to his intelligence. He plays well with other non-aggressive dogs but requires discipline around cats, in whom he is “overly interested”. He is working on leash-training. Due to his hearing impairment, he will need a good fenced yard. Earl is parasite-free, fully vaccinated, neutered and house-trained. **This pet is currently located in Arkansas. Once adopted, transport will be arranged. Our transport makes stops in NH, NJ, CT, MD, & PA. The total adoption donation is $400, which includes the transport fee. If you are interested in adopting this pet, please contact Kelley@adoptastrayrescue.com Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive.
