Print an adoption flyer for Jenga! PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
12/18/24 Jenga is one of my favorite dogs that we have in rescue right now. He encompasses the forgiving nature of dogs. Jenga has a very long, sad story. While we don't want to focus on his past, his story needs to be told. Here is the shortened version:
Jenga was a street dog who a good Samaritan was feeding and doing her best to care for him. He stayed close to her house for the most part, because he knows where the food is. Sadly, its a high crime area with known dog fighters living and actively engaging in the illegal "sport" of dog fighting. Jenga, being the friendly, sweet hearted, trusting boy that he is was an easy target for them. A neighbor witnessed these people lure Jenga into their fenced in yard, where they keep their fighting dogs on logging chains for "training" and they threw Jenga into the middle and laughed while their dogs mauled him nearly to death. Somehow, Jenga escaped with his life, but barely. He left a trail of blood all the way down the street as he drug himself back to the only home he knew. He lost a lot blood that night. We didn't think he would make it. But he pulled through with the help of his good Samaritan friend and our vet and his team. We thought he would lose both of his ears, but he didn't. He made a full recovery. Despite all that he has been through, Jenga LOVES all people. Kids included. He also loves other dogs. He holds no grudges, and would probably go right to those same people again if he had the chance, because in his mind, people are good and he loves all of them- even the ones who don't deserve it.
So that's his back story. After this all took place, we were able to get jenga into a foster home. He has been an absolute joy to have in his foster home. He is everything good. He's quiet, gentle, loving, crate and house trained. He got a new bed from Santa Paws and he LOVES it! He is grateful for any little thing that is given to him. We've had him fully vetted. Unfortunately, he was heartworm positive but he will be treated fur that after he finishes his 30 days of pre-treatment. He will be enrolling in the Paws In Prison training program on 12/19, not because he needs training, but more because we think he will enjoy the added attention and focused training he will get while there.
These are the facts: Jenga is a pit bull mix and he's black. That makes him far less desirable from an adoption standpoint. Here's another fact: he is every bit as wonderful, loving, and deserving of a good home as any other dog. Please don't let his breed and color be a deterrent. He craves love and affection and he deserves to have that in his life. He didn't ask to be here, but we are glad to know him and we hope someone out there will give him the chance that he needs. He will be the most loyal companion anyone could ever ask for. Jenga love going for rides in the car and would love to have a family who will let him tag along on their adventures. He adores children and has been around ages as young as toddlers. He is very gentle with them, as if he understands they are more fragile. He is about 2 years old and 40 lbs.
I should note, the dog fighters have been reported to authorities many times. Nothing is ever done to stop their illegal activies. We don't know why, but our local law enforcement just doesn't seem to care about dog abuse and cruelty.
