PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

10/8/23 And now…Heidi’s sister, Miley. She is also at the Paws in Prison program.

“The old soul. She’s only 6 months old, but it’s like she was born in the old country a hundred years ago, and has spent every day digging potatoes out of frozen ground. All she needs is a head scarf and an oversized sweater. In reality, Miley is a puppy. A very sweet puppy. She’s just much more reserved. She’s also smart and studies everything around her. Miley weighs about 50 pounds and she has a slight blaze on her nose. She’s a pretty and practical girl. If she were human, Miley would shop with coupons, wear sensible shoes, and remember everybody’s birthday. Of course she’d remember. Because she wouldn’t dream of hurting anyone’s feelings.”

We believe Miley is a Dogue de Bordeaux mix!She and her 3 sisters were dumped in the extreme Arkansas summer heat, on a paved road with no shelter, food, or water. When our volunteer came upon them, they were all heat exhausted and dehydrated but they were trying their best to survive. They were thrilled that someone stopped to help them and they happily hopped in he car to be rescued. some dogs just know they need help. All 4 of them had cherry eyes, which we have had surgically corrected. Cherry eyes is a prolapse of the nictitating membrane, or 3rd eyelid, and requires surgical intervention. We believe she is a French mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux) mix - think Turner and Hooch. She is not a giant size, but if our age and breed guesses are correct, she still has some growing to do. Mastiff breeds will often continue growing and filling out until they are at least 2 years old. She will probably never be a giant size but will likely be a large dog.
Miley is spayed, UTD on vaccines, and microchipped!

Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.

Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
