PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
4/23/23 Still available. Kansas is a chihuahua / dachshund mix. I would say he is at least a year old. Kansas is very wary of people, but loves my two resident female dogs. Kansas needs a quiet home. He seems more wary of men than women. Kansas is not big on seeking out affection yet. My husband and I have been fostering him the last 3 or 4 weeks and he has had no applications. It will take a very loving, patient person to bring Kansas into their home. He will require a securely fenced in yard because he is considered a flight risk. Kansas loves to hang out in his crate and watch the goings on in the house. That is where he considers his "safe place" to be. He had a few potty accidents the first week or so, but none since. He also enjoys walks but is afraid of strangers passing by. Please consider bringing Kansas into your home if you feel you'd be a good fit. Overall, he is a very easy dog to have around. 3/18/23 Meet Kansas! This little guy will need a special home. He is part of a group of dogs that were taken in from a hoarder situation that was beyond horrific. All of these dogs are incredibly shy and scared. However, after only a week in their foster homes, they are coming around. They will each require adopters who are very patient and calm around them, while they adjust and learn that they are safe. These babies would not be candidates for families with young children or homes that are super busy/loud. Kansas is about 1 yr old and weighs 10 lbs. He is a chihuahua/Dachshund mix (chiweenie). Kansas has made great progress in the past week. We have noticed that he is much more confident when he has another confident dog to mentor him. Preference will be given to adopters who have at least 1 other dog who is kind and welcoming. Kansas wants to be loved, he just isn't quite there yet, but he's making great strides in the right direction! Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations. To apply, please fill out the adoption app: https://form.jotform.com/212690945239059 email apps.aasr@gmail.com with any questions.
