About Mary Jane (MJ)

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes

Current info (Jan 2022) Now that we've had MJ back in rescue for a while and have gotten to know her again, we are happy to say that this girl is wonderful! MJ loves to be loved. She likes to play too but is more interested in getting affection than anything else. MJ will bark at strangers when they first arrive, but that is just her trying to protect those she loves. Other than that, she is a quiet dog. MJ gets along great with other friendly dogs. She has made many friends here at the rescue, but sadly she has seen many of her friends leave to go on to their homes, leaving her to wonder why she hasn't been picked yet. MJ's only bad habit that we have found is that in her excitement, she will jump up on you.  She is just trying to get your attention. This is something we've tried to break her of, but it is difficult in this setting to work one on one with any dog. I believe in her own home, with more focus on her, she would learn quickly. She is very eager to please. MJ is crate trained and house trained. She previously lived with a cat and was fine with her. MJ has a friend, Blanche, who came into rescue with her and could be adopted with her but it's not a requirement. It is important for her to have another dog to play with, whether it is Blanche or another dog in the home. If an adopter chooses to make Blanche and MJ part of their family, we will reduce the adoption fee for the pair.

History: Blanche and Mary Jane (MJ) have had a rough year. They were brought into rescue and adopted by a previous adopter. To make a LONG story short, the adopter returned them, due to NO FAULT of Blanche and Mary Jane. They are the sweetest girls. They have been back with our rescue since June 2021.  In rescue they get very little one on one attention, it's time to find them a home!

Located in Arkansas. Transport to the northeast is available. Adopter would need to be able to arrange for someone to pick her up from the transporter on a Friday at one of the following locations/times:

Harrisburg, PA 1:45 AM
Port Jervis, NJ 5AM
Southington, CT 8AM
East Hartford, CT 12 noon
