9/20/19 Mr. Bruno came into rescue as an owner surrender/abuse case. His owner had not treated him well at all. He kept him outdoors most of his life, didn't keep up with his veterinary needs, and when Bruno got bored and tore some things up, his owner was going to shoot him. We were told that Bruno was about 2 years old, but it is pretty apparent to us that he is a more mature guy. Our vet estimates that Bruno is about 5 years old. We have brought him up to date on vaccinations, had him neutered, tested him for heartworms (he was negative, thankfully!), and he had 2 rotten teeth that we had extracted. So he is feeling much better these days. Personality wise, Bruno is a gem. He loves everyone and is very affectionate. I don't think he's ever been given much love in his life and he really craves human companionship. Being that he was a more mature dog when he was neutered, he does still have the habit of marking his territory. This may or may not resolve with time. I do feel like when he's in his own home with a family who can focus on his training, he would learn more appropriate behavior. It's hard to train them in rescue because each of our fosters have multiple dogs. Bruno does get along well with other dogs. He has not been around kids or cats to my knowledge but I honestly can't see him having a problem with either. He's a pretty mellow kind of guy. He is crate trained but doesn't much care for being crated for long periods. However, he will kennel up and settle into his crate and does fine for short periods of time. After a few hours he tends to get a little vocal. Bruno's skin and ears are typical bulldog skin and ears. They are a bit yeasty and need to be kept clean. So he needs a family who won't mind wiping his skin folds and staying on top of his ear health. Medicated baths once a week or so are very helpful for him. He does have a scar along one side of his face which we don't know how he got it and the previous owner wasn't forthcoming with info on that. I hate to think about it. I am hopeful that we can find Bruno a family who will love him enough for the rest of his life, to make up for the mistreatment that he suffered up until he was rescued. If you think you are a good match for our sweet guy, please email kelley.aasr@gmail.com

**Bruno's adoption fee is $450. This is less than the cost of having him neutered, his teeth extractions, vaccinations, heartworm testing, flea/tick/heartworm preventives, and day to day costs. Our usual adoption fee for an English Bulldog is far more, but we have reduced Bruno's fee due to his age. Please do not ask to reduce it further. The love he will give you is priceless!
