We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

1/13/19 Abilene is such a sweet little girl! She came to rescue as a stray. Her owner did claim her but did not want her back. :( I think she knew she wasn't wanted in her previous home. I was at their neighbor's house picking up kids from visiting, and when I opened my car door, Abby jumped into my lap and wouldn't get out. Poor girl, she must have sensed that I'm an animal lover. The previous owner did contact me and explained that Abby had belonged to her mother who had passed away. She took Abby in but had her living outside. She's only 20lbs! She asked if I could find her a home because she really had no interest in providing a home for her. Abby has been inside here at my house and doesn't have accidents in the house. She enjoys going outside for short time, but then she's ready to come back in and cuddle. She loves to sleep in bed next to me and the other dogs. She gets along well with other dogs but is bossy with them. She even bosses my 160lb Mastiff. She has no idea she is a little girl, and she has enough attitude to pull it off. However, she is not aggressive. She just likes to be the boss. When she's on the bed, if other dogs try to jump up, she will growl at them. But she is easily corrected on this and will mind when told no. If the other dogs are on the bed first, there is no issue. She just joins them and cuddles with them. She is a funny, silly girl who loves car rides and really doing anything with her person. She is about 5 years old and tested light positive for heartworms and will start treatment on Monday, Jan 14. She will be available to go to a new home once her treatment is complete, which will be the end of February. She is not sick, and she has no symptoms, so we have caught this early and it should have no bearing on her life span or quality of life. Her heart is still in good shape and she is not expected to have long term affects. Abby would love a home where she is the only dog or one of maybe 2 or 3 dogs, as opposed to the many dogs she has to share attention with here. She would do well in a home with one or two others. She is friendly with everyone, good with kids, and a total cuddle bug. She is also leash trained. She hates being in a crate and thankfully, crating isn't really necessary for her since she is mature and well past the puppy destructive stage. Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
