PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

5.7.18 Cricket is a beautiful Poodle who was surrendered by the breeder because it was time for her to retire from breeding. Cricket is a Moyen size Poodle, which is actually a 4th size of poodle which is between the miniature and standard size. She weighs about 25-30lbs and is 5 years old Cricket is a lovely girl who is very mild mannered and calm. She is very shy and needs a home that is quiet, where she can relax and come out of her shell in her own time. Her new family will need to be patient with her. Cricket would do best in a home without young children, as the noise and commotion of little ones would scare her. She does just fine with other dogs and would probably enjoy the company of another calm dog, but would also do fine as an only dog. Cricket's adoption fee is more than our usual fee. The reason for this is that we have to think of the big rescue picture. We know that we will have many people who will want to adopt her, and we are thankful for that. Sadly, there are many dogs in our rescue who are not as fortunate and will be here long term. And there are many who come to us with extensive medical needs. Nothing is free and we have to pay for veterinary services like everyone else does. We get no funding from anyone - our rescue is funded solely on adoption fees and the occasional donation. When we get cases like Cricket, we use the extra adoption fee to help pay for these things. We have dogs that have been with us for months, waiting on heartworm treatment. We are constantly taking in dogs who need surgeries, have extensive injuries or illnesses, and we have to pay for these things some how. Some will agree with this. Some won't. We will not haggle over the adoption fee. If you bought Cricket from the breeder, she would have cost $1500 and you would have had to pay to have her spayed. Our adoption fee is $500 and we have already had her spayed, brought up to date on shots, microchipped, dewormed, and she will be vet checked again the week before she leaves for her new home. Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
