4.17.18 Ellie came into rescue when we took her from a high kill shelter. She had been surrendered to the shelter by her family. She is 8 years old and they had her for her whole life. And then one day, they didn't want her any more, so they took her to a shelter and left her there knowing that she would probably be euthanized. When the shelter got full, she was at the top of the list to be euthanized because the owner surrendered dogs are always first. That's where rescue came in. Seeing that sweet girl in the shelter, there's no way I could leave her there to die. She deserves so much better than that. She loved her family. She doesn't understand where they are or why they left her there in that scary, loud, smelly place. Ellie is here at my house now, as one of my many fosters. Since coming here, I have discovered a few things about her. She is still very young for an 8 year old and will play with the other dogs here! She gets along great with all the other dogs, from the tiny 4lbs to the xlarge 150lbs. Males and females. She is great with all of them and tries to get them to play with her. Ellie is terrified of storms and I often give her benedryl if it is storming out. She gets very scared otherwise. The benedryl helps and she will usually calm down after that. Ellie is house trained and crate trained. She has never had an accident in her crate or in the house once she got adjust to our schedule and being here. She is such a lovely girl and will make someone a wonderful companion. She still has so much love left to give. We have had Ellie spayed and she is negative for heartworms.
