PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
5/26/15 Maximus has been at the shelter for over a year, waiting on a court hearing. You see, he was taken from his owner because his owner beat his other to death and then tried to bury her at one of our local parks here in Arkansas. When he got caught and it was discovered that he had another dog (Maximus), he was taken from the home and placed in the city shelter until the case went to court. Thankfully, that has finally happened and the judge has ordered Maximus be placed up for adoption to a loving home. Maximus will leave the shelter this weekend and go to his foster home here in Arkansas, where he will remain until adopted. Maximus was assessed for adoption while in the shelter, and this is the notes the assessor made: Went and evaluated Maximus today. He met two cats that were side by side that tried ripping his face off . He stepped back in terror and awe. He showed no signs of any sort with any cats! As we know they need further testing outside of shelter. He met every single dog through the kennel face to face and literally said hi and moved along. I even made him go back to ones showing crazy behavior to him. Again he moved along and ignored. I then chose the most annoying adult male for him to meet face to face. Again barely sniffed him and walked off. The other dog even tried to mount him and Maximus ignored and just avoided him. I tested him with canned cat food and did everything I could to provoke Maximus and he gave no reaction. A shelter employee introduced his child which is one year old and he was fine.
