Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie : : Male : : Adult : : Small
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
Updated 4/7/15 Wookie is a little 10lb Yorkie that came to the shelter as a stray. No one ever claimed him and he appeared to have been on his own for quite some time, as his coat was heavily matted. We rescued Wookie from the shelter and put him in a great foster home here in Arkansas, where he will stay until we have an adoption approved and confirmed for him, then he will be transported to the northeast. Wookie is house trained. He gets along very well with dogs and cats. His foster family consists of a chihuahua, a small mixed breed dog, and 90lb hound, and a couple of cats, as well as 2 young children. He does very well with all of them, but we are recommending that he go to a home without young children, as he does tend to get a little bit nervous when people grab for him suddenly, as young children will often do. Wookie would probably do best with an older couple or a family with older children, maybe 10years and up. We do require a fenced yard for Wookie, as he has a little habit of darting out of open doors and running like his tail is on fire! So his adopter needs to know that he is prone to doing so, and be prepared to hold him when answering the door. He loves going for car rides, but should always be wearing a collar with his ID tags, as well as a leash tethered in to the car so he won't jump out when the door is opened. Wookie appears to be about 5 years old, is heartworm negative and up to date on vaccinations. For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com.
