About Charlotte

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes

11/11/13 Charlotte is a beatiful girl that was rescued from a very abusive owner. Their other dog was paralyzed in both back legs due to the abuse she suffered. She is also in our program but is not available for adopton. We have Charlotte safely in a foster home now, where she has bonded very hard to another dog, Cozette. We are hoping to find a home for the 2 of them together. They love eachother so much, even to the point of sleeping curled up so that they are always touching each other. They share everything. Cozette's web page is here: http://www.adoptastrayrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=6258387

We know it will be hard to find a home for the together, so if the right adopter comes along for one of them, we will seperate them, we were just hoping we wouldn't have to. Charlotte is a very sweet, loving, but shy girl. It took her a long time to learn to trust anyone. But once she learned that her foster dad is kind and gentle, she can't get enough of him. She is just so full of love to give someone. She is very submissive with other dogs - she does not have an aggressive bone in her body. She is just very sweet. We believe Charlotte is a Greyhound mix. She is very fast when she runs and she can run a long time when she gets going! She does not try to escape from her foster dad's fenced yard, but she did escape her owner's yard, multiple times, which only goes to show how afraid and unhappy she was there. This sweet girl needs a gentle, loving person to take her in and understand that it may take her some time to learn to trust her new family. Her transition will be easier if her friend Cozette can be part of it. She is much more confident when she is with Cozette. Charlotte is very gentle in nature. She is not one to jump up for attention. She quietly walks up to you and waits patiently until she is noticed and given attention. She is a true love and sweet heart and will make a wonderful companion to a gentle and patient family. Charlotee (and Cozette) are located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted. Please email kelley.aasr@gmail.com for more info.

Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
