PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

10/17/12 Chester was surrendered by his owner, to a very kigh kill shelter, where he was scheduled to be euthanized due to overcrowding. His owner no longer wanted him because they had a baby and he is not great with kids. Chester was terrified in the shelter. He is a fear biter and did snap at me when I reached for him. But with some patience and TLC, he has come around to be the most loving little guy. He now gives me lots of kisses every day and will sit in my lap for as long as I will let him. Chester needs a home with a family where there are no young children who will be reaching and grabbing at him. Older children are fine. He has been around my 10 year old niece and he loves her. The key is that he needs patience. Everyone in his new family will need to know that they should wait for him to approach them. They will be rewarded with an endless supply of love and kisses. :) Chester is about 2-3 years old. His previous said he is a Poodle/Shih Tzu mix. He has the curly hair of a poodle on his head but the rest of his hair is more like that of a shih tzu. He has the underbite, and big sweet eyes of a shih tzu. He is truly a unique little man and is a show stopper! Chester is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, and weighs about 10lbs. Chester gets along great with other dogs of all sizes - he loves to play once he gets comfortable! Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
