About Luna Adoption pending

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog

12/21/23 Benton, AR- URGENT
Luna's situation has become urgent. She is not getting along with the other dog in the home and we have determined that she needs to be an only dog at this point. She is so devoted to her human and does not want to share. Please share. We are desperately trying to find her a home before things escalate and someone is seriously injured.

Look. You won't find a more beautiful dog no matter where you look. I mean, just look at her! She is a stunner! Luna found herself on the streets when her owners moved and abandoned her. She went door to door to every house in the area, scratching on the doors, begging for help. She was used to being inside with a family and she didn't understand why she was suddenly on her own out in the cold, with no food, no warm bed, and no family to love her. When someone finally opened the door, she powered her way through and went straight to the sofa and made herself right at home. Unfortunately, they couldn't take on another dog, so she was put back outside. Someone eventually contacted us and thankfully one of our incredibly kind hearted fosters opened their home to her. Since coming into rescue, Luna has struggled with separation anxiety. This is the thing. She wants to be with people. When I took her to be spayed, I had her tethered in the back of my van. She chewed through the leash and made her way to the front of the van and climbed into Albert's lap (even though he was driving). Once she was touching someone, she was perfectly calm and content. She undoubtedly has some baggage from her family abandoning her. Who the heck wouldn't? Her ideal home would be one with a family who has a stay at home or work from home parent, or retiree. She is very strong (a total powerhouse) and pulls some on the leash, so additional training and a strong leader will be important for her. We realize that even stay at home parents and retirees will have to leave her home alone at some point, so for the right adopter, the rescue will waive her adoption fee in lieu of the adopter purchasing a high impact, escape proof, crate to use when Luna must be home alone, to keep her safe. These crates are typically around $150-$200 (see photo for example). She is very eager to please, which makes her a good candidate for training. Luna's only aspiration in life is to be part of a family. That is literally all she wants. She misses her family, and it is quite sad to see how she has grieved for them. She needs some time and a lot of love to heal her little broken heart. She is open to being loved by another family and is ready to give all of her love and devotion to them. If you think you can offer a safe, loving, stable home, please reach out. We would like to get her into a home soon, so she can get settled. She has been through enough. She is fully vetted (spayed, heartworm negative, on prevention, microchipped, vaccinated) and weighs about 65 lbs. She’s about 2 years old.
