About Moses

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Declawed: No

Meet Moses! This big ol hunk of handsomeness was dumped on a country road in January. Poor guy ran after the car until his paws were bloody and he just couldn't run any more. We don't know why anyone would dump such a good boy, but we are glad that a kind hearted person found him and took him in. They can't keep him but they are fostering him until he gets adopted. This is what they have to say about him:
"Moses is 110lbs of slobbering love. He was dumped Jan 4 somewhere near our house. On Jan 5, I brought him home with 4 bleeding paws. You could see where a collar had been, and my thought is that his paws were bleeding from running after the vehicle that dumped him. He WAS an intact male, but no longer is. He has been neutered, gotten all shots. is heartworm neg and is microchipped. The vet said he can easily gain another 20-30lbs filling out. He eats 7 cups of food a day. 3 in the morning 3 in the evening and 1 before he goes to bed. Apparently when he was a puppy his tail got caught in "something". Part of it is cut off. His tail is about 2/3 it's normal length. I have been keeping him in our basement at night. It is finished and I didn't want him to be cold. I have been sleeping down here with him every night to make sure he doesn't tear up anything. He has not peed or pooped down here once. Someone has worked with him. He sits and shakes on command. He LOVES to ride and will get in any vehicle with an open door. He seems to love all animals, but I am not sure about cats. He hasn't been around any and he does bark at deer. He jumped our fence one day and visited the neighbors' cows and sheep, but he didn't chase them or even mess with them. He just watched from a distance. He runs like the wind, and I hate to keep him in our tiny 10 X 10 pen. That's the only place I am comfortable he won't jump the fence and run off. Around here people shoot dogs they don't know, especially one as big as him. He jumped flat footed over a 4' railing on our deck. He needs to be around younger people than us. We can't keep up with him. We try to let him run about an hour every night in the backyard and a few hours on weekends but that just doesn't seem enough."
