Labrador Retriever / Mixed : : Male : : Young : : Large
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
7/30/23 Still available and I don't know why!! He is now about a year old. We really need to find him an adopter or northern foster. He is holding up space for dogs that are in desperate need of rescue.
4/24/23 This guy is absolutely stunning! Slate is about 9-10 months old (we think) and he seems to be a Silver Lab. He could be mixed with a little something else but he’s very Lab looking.
Slate and his 4 brothers were rescued from under a bridge in Texarkana, AR when they were about 4-5 months old. They will likely mature to be big boys (larger end of medium).
Because these guys have been kept in an outdoor pen (out of necessity- it was that or leave them under the bridge- please don't judge, she did the best she could do and we have very few fosters) they haven’t received a ton of training and would do well with families who are willing to put some effort and time into training them. They are all amazing dogs. They are very friendly and love all people. They have been around some older school aged children and did very well, although these guys may be a little much for very young children. They wouldn't intentionally harm them, but because they are big babies themselves, they could easily knock a small child down in their exuberance. These boys have all been kenneled together, and they all get along very well, so it is reasonable to believe they will do fine with other non aggressive dogs. One of them has been adopted and he’s great with other dogs. They do bark at the cats on the other side of the pen. Smokey, Asher, and Slate are the more submissive ones of the group. Magnus and Smokey do exhibit some resource guarding with their food (only towards other dogs- not with humans) and they seem to be the 2 alphas of the group. This has been easily managed by feeding them separately. We truly hope that someone will fall in love with these handsome boys and will be willing to put in the effort to help them become the best dogs they can be! They’ve been waiting too long.
