About Lil Bit

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog

12/7/22 Lil Bit is a Standard size smooth Dachshund, we think is 8-10yrs old. He came into rescue as a owner surrender due to his owner no longer being able to care for him.
He had a large growth on his chest that he had surgery to remove and he does still have stitches from but they are dissolvable and as he continues to heal will eventually absorb fully.
He also had a couple bad teeth that he just had removed so he is now ready to find his forever home.
Lil bit is what I call a Velcro dog as he prefers to be with me all the time.
He is house trained, kennel trained (however he much prefers to sleep in bed with me) he gets along well with other dogs of all sizes, he loves to chase squirrels outside.
He is great with children and he is ok with cats but he will chase them in a effort to entice them to play (he holds no grudges so even if a kitty slaps him the next time he see’s kitty he continues to try and win them over and encourage them to play). Good with other dogs.
He walks well on leash and always comes when called.
He loves to go for rides so much that anytime he finds a car door open he immediately jumps in
He does have some anxiety when left alone for extended periods of time and he will cry and sometimes howl as well as shred his blanket.
This only occurred when he was crated over night in a separate room.
We switched things up and at night he now sleeps on his dog bed in another room and he has displayed no anxiety since we started this routine.
Lil bit is the perfect balance of cuddling on the couch watching Netflix to exploring a trail on a afternoon walk.
He is neutered, heartworm negative, up to date on shots, and current on flea, tick & heartworm prevention.
