PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.

11/26/22 Meet Nigel

This is Rescue! Nigel came to us in September. He had a horrible case of mange and was infested with many types of parasites. He was skin and bones, and his skin was all crusted over from the mange. Emotionally, he was totally shut down. He had given up on life. Now, a month and a half later, after many medicated bath, dips, scrubbing all the crust off of his skin, a good diet, and a lot of love, he is like a totally different dog! He is the happiest, most silly, goofy, sweet boy you could imagine! I'm so happy he is thriving and has overcome his physical and emotional abuse. When you support Adopt A Stray Rescue, you are helping us help dogs like Nigel. Thank you to everyone who supports us in any way! Before and after photos shown here, taken about 6 weeks apart. Nigel is now ready to find his forever family! He’s about 7-8 months old. He is good with other dogs. He has not been cat tested so we aren’t sure on that. We think he’d be good with kids but needs some training. He is very sweet and full of life but kind of mouthy when playing. He may grab a child’s hand bc he wants to play, which could hurt a small child. He doesn’t do it aggressively but it’s how he plays, so he needs to work on that. He is a little food aggressive with other dogs but we are working on that too. He looks like a scruffy Rottweiler! Neutered, UTD, microchipped, on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. Adopter must be able to pick up or arrange for someone to pick up for them at one of the following times/locations.

Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
