Transport is provided by www.heartsllc.com or www.alphadogtransport.com once there is an adopter ready to accept the dog. Meeting the dog prior to adopting is simply not possible, unless you want to come to Arkansas (we would be thrilled to have you, if you want to do some traveling!)Please check the websites referenced to see if one of our transporters offers a stop close to you. We do offer a refund and to take the dog back into rescue, if he/she is not as described or not a good fit for you, if you let us know within a week of receiving him/her. Please understand, we are listing our available dogs anywhere we can, to offer them the best chance of finding the right family and having a happy life filled with love.*** 9/3/19 Sassy is a gorgeous German Shepherd who came into our rescue as a stray. She was found in a neighborhood, where she had been hanging out with some of the dogs in the area. People in the neighborhood didn't want her around, but instead of helping her, they began shooting at her to try to make her leave. Thankfully, a resident in the area scooped her up and brought her to us so she would be safe. She came into rescue in April 2019. She was very thin and a little scared, but quickly gained weight and learned to trust us immediately. She tested positive for heartworms but has been treated and is recovered now. Sassy is excellent with other dogs of all sizes, genders, and personalities. She is very submissive and does tend to submissively pee a small amount if other dogs rush her. Other than the submissive peeing, she is house trained. She is also crate trained. Sassy is medium energy level. She spends a lot of time lying around but will go outside and play hard for short periods of time. She has made friends with all of the dogs here at the rescue, as well as my personal dogs. She has no issues getting along with anyone. We have not had her around cats. Sassy is extremely loving. She would be a good candidate for an emotional support dog. She loves to be glued to her person. She is very affectionate and would be content to spend all day every day doing whatever her person is doing, whether that is lying around watching tv or hiking/running/walking. She would be happy in a home with or without other dogs, as long as the other dogs are not aggressive. She would be afraid of a very dominant or aggressive dog and would not stand up for herself. So it's important that if she is paired with another dog, that dog is as kind natured as she is. I don't want her to ever experience fear again. She had enough of that when she was a stray and I never want her to feel scared again. She deserves to be loved as hard as she loves. Sassy has not shown any destructive tendencies so crating may not be 100% necessary, but I would recommend a crate for her at least for the first few months in her new home. She feels safe in her crate and goes in there willingly when she is feeling a little overwhelmed by all the other dogs. She sleeps in her crate as well. Sassy weighs about 70lbs. She is spayed, up to date, has been treated for heartworms, and is now a happy, healthy, beautiful girl! We believe she is about 2 years old.
