We do offer a refund and to take the dog back into rescue, if he/she is not as described or not a good fit for you, if you let us know within a week of receiving him/her. Please understand, we are listing our available dogs anywhere we can, to offer them the best chance of finding the right family and having a happy life filled with love.*** 9/3/19 Saraphina is a beautiful, loving dog that came from a terrible life. She was rescued from a hoarder type situation, where she had a litter of puppies. She and her puppies had not been handled by people in a very long time, if ever. Her puppies all got adopted quickly, but Saraphina has been in rescue since November. She had to undergo heartworm treatment, which she has completed and is doing great now. Despite her previous life, Saraphina is friendly and very loving. While it may take her a short time to warm up to a new family, once she feels secure and knows that she is safe, she bonds very hard to people and will be completely committed and loyal to her family. Saraphina is a very happy natured little girl who is grateful for every kindness shown to her. We are not sure of her breed, but she looks to be a Sheepdog/Border Collie mix. She weighs about 40lbs and we believe she is 2-3 years old. She is a smart girl and learns new concepts quickly. She learned to crate in a day's time and never has accidents in her crate. She sleeps in her crate through the night and waits patiently for her turn to go outside in the mornings. She gets along very well with other non aggressive dogs and has made many friends here at the rescue, but would also do fine as an only dog. She gets along well with other dogs but doesn't necessarily interact with them much, as she really prefers people over other dogs. Saraphina is mostly house trained, but has limited time in the house other than when she is crated, as is the nature of our rescue. We simply have too many dogs in one place to give any of them very much inside time except when they are in their crates. So she may need some additional training/direction to be 100% house trained when she goes to a new home with new smells, new routines, etc. But as mentioned, she is very smart and learns new concepts quickly, so I believe it would be an easy transition for her. Saraphina is a medium energy dog. She will play outside for a few minutes, and then she is ready to come inside and relax. She is very treat motivated. She does well on leash with minimal pulling. She does not necessarily require a fenced yard or a lot of exercise. But if there is no fenced yard, she would need at least one good walk or job daily to stay in good health and to get some energy out. She would be content to "watch netflix and chill" or be a couch potato if her adopter enjoys a lot of down time. She has not shown any destructive tendencies but I would recommend a crate for when she is unsupervised, at least for the first few months in her new home. Then she may be transitioned to free roam in the home if her adopter so desires. Saraphina is a healthy, loving, happy girl now and is ready to find a home of her own.
