Doobie is located in Central Vermont 8/3/19 Doobie came into rescue as an owner surrender. He had become sick and owner could not afford vet care. Upon investigating further, it was determined that Doobie had ingested his owners illegal drugs. The owner admitted to this and Doobie was then removed from the home. Thankfully he made a full recovery and is doing great! Doobie is very playful and fun loving! This is what his foster mom has to say about him: Doobie is a beautiful Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. He is currently located in a foster home in Central Vermont. He gets along well with cats and dogs. He loves kids of all ages. He is a big boy and tends to get excited when he sees extended members of his family, but quickly calms down. He is housebroken and crate trained. He leads well with minimal pulling. He knows basic obedience commands: Comes on command, down (don’t jump), Sit, shake, lay down (learning). He is a very active dog but quiets down and is a cuddlebug when he’s worn out. He loves to go for runs, fetch, play in the dog park, and swim. He definitely needs to be in a very active home where he can be a working dog or can go for daily runs with his person. Probably not the best choice for a biking companion because he does try to chase motorcycles and cars that send like motorcycles. However, his foster is quickly breaking him of that habit. He is food aggressive with other pets, but never with humans. His food can be easily taken away from him with no hint of aggression. He just sits and gives his paw so it will be given back. He has his favorite toys – which he doesn’t like to share with other animals but is not aggressive in taking them back. He is an all-around great puppy who started out with a miserable life and deserves all the happiness the right family can give him. He’s a sweetheart who needs a permanent home, preferably one that can offer him lots of exercise and a fenced yard.
