PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
5/16/19 Shaq was originally found in a wooded area in Arkansas, in early 2019. He was taken in by the man who found him, but due to his having a young child with cancer, and a 4mo old baby, he and his wife didn't feel that they could care for a dog at that time. He then came into rescue. He was an excellent boy while in his foster home. He got along well with the other dogs and was house and crate trained. Once he was adopted, his foster mom and dad drove him to his new family in Colonie, NY, at the end of March. Shaq's new family consists of mom and dad, a dog lab brother and 2 human brothers, ages 3 years old and infant. It has been determined that Shaq would do better in a home without young children. He is nervous around the 3 years old and has snapped at him. He has never shown any aggression towards anyone else, but we think the toddler energy is just too much for him. It should be noted that Shaq MUST go to a home with adopters who are willing to provide him with a structured environment. It is my belief that the structure of crating and training will help eliminate any confusion about his role in the family. He needs a family with a strong alpha, who will provide him with kind but firm training and structure If you can not provide this for him, please do not apply to adopt Shaq. He needs for his next home to be forever. He is going to be confused and sad, and we do not want him to continue to be bounced around from home to home. He needs to find his forever home and be able to settle in and become part of his family. Structure and training will play a large role in his success. Shaq is estimated to be about a year old now (he was less than a year when he came into rescue), he is well over 120lbs, neutered, up to date on shots, and heartworm negative. He is located in Colonie, NY, so adopters will need to be able and willing to drive at least 1/2 way there to meet him.
