Border Collie / Mixed : : Male : : Baby : : Medium
PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
Please note! These puppies are located in Arkansas. They are listed in the states that we offer transport to or near, but are physically located in ARkansas until adopted, at which time transport will take place. We use www.heartsllc.com and www.alphadogtransport.com for transport. Please check their websites to see if they offer a pick up location near you. 2/5/19 These babies came from the most horrific situation imaginable. It was a hoarding situation. We came upon them by accident and were able to get all 5 puppies and their mom out of the situation. They had never been touched by human hands before we rescued them. They were terrified and each of them screamed and soiled themselves when we picked them up for the first time. However, after 2 weeks with us, they are becoming more and friendly every day. They now come to us willingly, happy to see us with tails wagging! It has been so rewarding to see them learn to trust us and gain confidence. They are very special to us and will only go to the best of homes. They need families who will be patient with them as they learn to trust them. It will be hard for them to make another transition but I believe they have gained enough confidence to make this adjustment, with a little patience and gentle encouragement from their new families. We believe mom is a border collie mix. She weighs about 35lbs and looks like she has a scruffy, rough coat, but is actually very soft. The puppies are the same. They look very scruffy but their coats are very soft. These babies will allow us to hold them and cuddle them now, but their new families need to understand that this will come with time. They will not be immediately confident enough to want to be cuddled and held, and will need some time to adjust. This is incredibly important, after all they have been through. Please do not apply to adopt one of these babies if you expect a puppy to immediately all tail wags and happy. They won't be that way at first, but they will be after a little time. It took them about a week to stop hiding from me, but once they reached that milestone they have made fast progress. It warms my heart for them to wag their little tails at me every day and actually want my attention. They have SO much potential. These babies probably would not be candidates for homes with very young, noisy children because that would be scary for them. They need more quiet homes where their nerves can settle down initially. However, if you have a more calm, quiet child, I would not automatically disqualify a family with young kids. It would depend on the child's personality and expectations. We do have a toddler who visits every day and they are coming to be more comfortable with her. She is still in the "snatch and grab" stage so she's not allowed much contact with them, but they are beginning to look forward to her visits. So I do believe with the right child, and the right supervision, they would be great little pets for a young family. They have so much love to give and they want so badly to trust and be loved. There is some size variation among the puppies. While Feathers is the smallest and will probably be about 25lbs, Ruffles and Lush are larger and will probably be around 35-40lbs when grown. We believe they are about 10 weeks old now, making their date of birth on or around Nov. 24, 2018. These babies mean so much to me and I want them to go families who will love them as much as I do.
